PHOTOGRAPHY CONTESTS

This contest is open to any dues paying members of an active GFWC club. The purpose is to promote photography as an artistic expression and to recognize the artistic achievements of GFWC members in the field of photography. The same image may be submitted to "The World in Pictures," "GFWC Volunteers in Action," and "A Year in Pictures" photo contests, but separate photos must be entered into each contest.

RULES AND PROCEDURES

 

 

These rules apply to The World in Pictures, GFWC Volunteers in Action and A Year in Pictures Contests.

THE WORLD IN PICTURES
Categories: There shall be three categories of photographs. They are as follows:

  1. Natural History: flowers, animals, insects, birds, trees, etc.
  2. Scenic: vistas, landscapes, seascapes, snow scenes, bridges, parks, mountains, farmland, etc.
  3. Feature: human interest picture including people, events, etc.

Rules:

 

GFWC VOLUNTEERS IN ACTION
Photos should "describe" a club project - club members reading to children, digging/planting a garden for a beautification project, or selling cookies at a bake sale for a fundraising project. Judges will look for ''action" shots rather than a posed group of GFWC members.

Deadlines for "The World in Pictures" and "GFWC Volunteers in Action" Contest

State Level: Photographs must be delivered to the contest chairman at the State Convention on the opening day by 9:00 a.m. Work will be judged on the day of convention. Contest Chairman will forward winning photos to GFWC postmarked on or before May 15 with a cover letter listing names of winners and their categories.

National Contest — A Year in Pictures (Calendar Contest)

Rules:

Deadline: Each GFWC club may submit one photograph, along with accompanying signed GFWC Creative Arts Waiver, postmarked by May 15 to GFWC A Year in Pictures Contest, 1734 N Street NW, Washington, DC 20036-2990
