MEMBER SHORT STORY AND POETRY CONTESTS

RULES AND PROCEDURES  

  1. Authors must be of amateur status; earnings from writings must not exceed $500 annually.
  2. Manuscripts entered may not have been published prior to the competition and must be original work of the author.
  3. Entries must be typewritten, double-spaced, minimum margins of 1", one side only, on 8-1/2" x 11" paper. Entries must have been written during the contest year.
  4. Short stories are limited to 2000 words. Poems can be any style with a minimum length of eight lines and a maximum of 30 lines. Plays/skits (written/acted) are limited to one act (15-30 minutes in length)
  5. Entries must have the following in the top right hand corner of each page: author's name, address, telephone number, name of local club and state, and title of manuscript.
  6. Manuscripts will not be returned. Authors should keep a copy.
  7. Clubs may send one entry per contest. Send directly to State Chairman before March 15. National entries are sent from the state on or before April 1. All entries are accompanied by a cover letter from chairman that lists the winners.
